Oklahoma Physical Activity and Nutrition Program (OKPAN)
OKPAN is a statewide effort, involving the Oklahoma State Department of Health and its partners, to prevent obesity and other chronic diseases through healthy eating and physical activity. The program is funded through a grant from the CDC to support state nutrition and physical activity programs to prevent obesity and other chronic diseases.
Program Mission
Reduce the incidence and prevalence of obesity and related chronic disease through the enhancement of organizational capacity and the development and implementation of a comprehensive State Plan.

- Decrease—or slow the rate of increase—of obesity among all Oklahomans.
- Reduce incidence and prevalence of obesity related chronic diseases among all Oklahomans.

Rationale for the State Plan
Physical inactivity and poor nutrition are epidemics in Oklahoma. The State Plan will be used as a guidance document for population-based programs within our state and establish one voice and message—a concerted effort in the fight for a healthy Oklahoma.

- Establish a statewide infrastructure for nutrition and physical activity.
- Build and sustain partnerships—finding solutions through partnership.
- Implement the comprehensive physical activity and nutrition state plan.
- Identify and improve data sources for surveillance and evaluation.
- Provide expertise, training and technical assistance to stakeholders.
Program Status—April
The final version of the State Plan is currently being printed. OKPAN will be requesting members of the Taskforce and newer partners to re-convene for the purpose of implementing the plan .
