Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program
The Oklahoma State Department of Health’s Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program will build an infrastructure to perform basic core public health functions through the following activities:
- build and network with statewide partners and leaders to formulate heart healthy policies
- develop an infrastructure of multi-disciplinary staff who possess skills of public health and cardiovascular health expertise
- train and provide technical assistance on population-based strategies and preventive measures for partners and within the infrastructure
- inventory and assess current cardiovascular programs within the state
- develop scientific capacity to assess and monitor cardiovascular disease data for trends or patterns and identify priority populations
- plan, pilot, and develop population-based environmental strategies with emphasis on priority populations
- develop, disseminate, and implement a statewide health improvement action plan
