Influenza and Respiratory Virus Activity Summary The Influenza Activity Level as measured by sentinel physician reporting and laboratory testing in Oklahoma will remain at no activity for the week ending May 31, 2008. There was no laboratory confirmation of influenza by direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) or culture testing. The proportion of patients evaluated by sentinel physicians meeting symptom criteria for influenza-like illness remained below 1% (0.2%, 3/1645) for this reporting period.1 None of the eight regions reported a proportion of patients presenting with influenza-like illness over 1% this week. The percent of positive tests for influenza reported from sentinel laboratories stayed at 0% (0/37) for the third consecutive week. This will be the last weekly web report for the 2007-2008 season. Weekly web updates will resume October 2008 when the 2008-2009 influenza and viral respiratory illness season begins. 1 Influenza-like illness is defined as having a fever (>100oF) and a cough and/or a sore throat.
