Family Planning ServicesBirth Control Options and Counsel

The Family Planning Program at the Seminole County Health Department strives to prevent unintended pregnancies, including adolescent pregnancies by providing "individuals with the information and means to exercise personal choice in determining the number and spacing of their children".

The Family Planning Program at the Seminole County Health Department provides clinical and counseling services for women of child bearing age who reside in Seminole County.

The following services are provided for women of childbearing age who reside in Seminole County:

  • Pregnancy Test
  • Pap Smear
  • Breast Exam
  • Testing for Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Testing for anemia (Hemocue)
  • Screening for diabetes
  • Screening for sickle cell anemia
  • Blood pressure check
  • Height
  • Weight

Family Planning Counseling Services

Counseling regarding various methods of birth control are also available for women of childbearing age who reside in Seminole County. Counseling may be conducted on one or more of the following birth control methods:

  • Abstinence
  • Natural Family Planning (rhythm method)
  • Latex Condoms
  • Vaginal Spermicides (film)
  • Diaphragm
  • Depo-Provera Injections
  • Birth Control Pills
  • Intra-uterine Devices (IUD)
  • Emergency Contraception

Fees

A sliding scale is used.  Fees are based on income.  No one is denied services based on inability to pay.

Family Planning Hours

Appointments are required for the Family Planning Clinic.

Clinics are held at the Wewoka site the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month - 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Clinics are held at the Seminole site each Tuesday and Friday (except the 1st Friday) of the month - 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. 

How to Make an appointment

Please call Seminole County Health Department, Seminole office 405-382-4369 or the Wewoka office at 405-257-5401, to schedule an appointment.  Family planning services are available by appointment only.

Parental consent for family planning services is recommended but not necessary.

*Women of childbearing age who reside in Seminole County may also only request a pregnancy test or sexually transmitted disease (STD) exam.

Pregnancy and STD testing are available on a walk in basis, Tuesday for Wewoka site; Monday and Thursday for Seminole Site, both 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
