Family Planning

Purpose

Provides comprehensive family planning and reproductive health services—contraceptive services and supplies, basic gynecologic care, cancer and general medical screening, infertility services, education, counseling and referral—to all persons who want them.

Family planning is a key factor in preventing unintended pregnancy, including adolescent pregnancy. By preventing unintended pregnancy, family planning also reduces the incidence of abortion, as well as improving birth outcomes. Family planning services reduce both the incidence and impact of sexually transmitted disease infection through screening and treatment.
