SoonerStart-EI

Purpose

Early Intervention Services are provided for eligible children (0-3 years of age) and their families.  Most services take place in the child's natural environment, their home.  The goal of SoonerStart is to provide families and children with ideas and interventions that promote typical development.

Services

Developmental testing available for the following areas:

  • Personal/social
  • Self-help
  • Gross motor
  • Fine motor
  • Receptive language
  • Expressive language 
  • Articulation
  • Cognitive
  • Hearing
  • Vision screening

Intervention services include:

  • Parent education
  • Nutrition
  • Nursing
  • Speech/Language Therapy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Monitoring child development
  • Audiology
  • Social Work
  • Resource coordination
  • Play groups

Enrollment Criteria

Any child, birth to age three, with an automatically qualifying diagnosis, two 25% delays, or one 50% delay determined by developmental testing. 

Fee

All services are provided free of charge regardless of income or insurance.  

Hours

Phones are answered Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Intervention visits are arranged to meet the family's needs and schedule.

The area office is located at Comanche County Health Department in Lawton.    Please call (580) 585-6619 to obtain referral information.
