Health Education

The Carter County Health Department offers a variety of Public Health Education programs. Please contact Anna Duran  for more information on the following programs. You can also call her at (580)223-9705.

In clinic services provided free of charge to public by health educators:

  • Car Seats - Existing car seats installed for you correctly or child car seat provided and installed - as limited grant funding permits.
  • Bicycle helmets
  • Smoke alarms
  • Child life jackets - for children 35 lbs or less
  • Prenatal counseling - Nutrition and avoidances in pregnancy, prepared childbirth, breastfeeding, relationship issues, birth control.
  • Natural Family Planning - methods education for couples - 45 min class
  • Free tobacco cessation counseling in person or by phone - Tobacco cessation medication available for uninsured as limited funding allows.
  • Non-judgmental Sexual Education for teens

Camp-Sit-A-Lot

A child care training for girls ages 10-16. Students will receive certification in infant and child CPR.Baby Boot Camp: All day training in what the demands are in caring for a baby. Youth, ages 12-16, will spend the day at the health department meeting the needs of a computerized baby program set on difficult. The baby’s needs include feeding, diapering, and those things when nothing will work!

Food Handler’s School

A program for anyone in restaurants or a position of handling food for the public. Upcoming classes.

In addition we have the following:

One on One discussion with parents and youths regarding adolescent risky behavior such as: drugs, alcohol, sexual activity, and the consequences and responsibilities of those uninformed decisions.

Programs for faith based organizations, schools or individual groups requesting presentations or training on topics fitting their needs.

CPR Training for clients or groups affiliated with the health department’s programs.
