SoonerStart
Mission
SoonerStart is Oklahoma's Early Intervention program for families of infants and toddlers, birth to 36 months, who have developmental delays. The program is a joint effort of the Oklahoma Departments of Education, Health, Human Services, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, the Commission on Children and Youth, the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, and the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. The Oklahoma State Department of Education is the Lead Agency.
SoonerStart professionals in your community can provide a developmental evaluation, if you have questions about your child's development. If your child is eligible for services, SoonerStart provides services where your child typically spends time: for example, home or childcare.
SoonerStart is regulated by the individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Part C and funded by various federal and state sources. Services are offered at no cost to families.
SoonerStart services are provided by qualified personnel: such as child development specialists, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, registered dieticians, social workers, special education teachers, speech and language pathologists, and others. For more information about current employment opportunities within SoonerStart, please call (405) 271-8333.
