Oklahoma Genetics Advisory Council
In 1999, the Oklahoma Genetics Advisory Council was formed to advise the Commissioner of Health on genetic issues.This diverse group of 27 members includes clinical genetic and laboratory providers, primary care providers, related specialist, Indian health representatives, clergy, consumers, insurance and community representatives and 15 ex-officio members from Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) programs and Department of Human Services (DHS). This council meets three times a year with its eight committees meeting more frequently as needed. All meetings are open to the public. The eight committees are the Public Health Genetics Policy, Newborn Screening Programs and Pediatrics, Adult, Evaluation, Education, Family Advisory and Birth Defects Registry, Prenatal Screening and Diagnosis and Student.
