The Child and Adolescent Health Division (CAH) is the area within the Maternal and Child Health Service with the responsibility to develop policies and procedures, provide resources and technical assistance/consultation, and monitor health systems and health status in assuring a state level infrastructure to insure the health of the child and adolescent population in the state. The major areas within CAH include: CAH Clinical Services with a priority of serving the uninsured population, the Adolescent Health Program which includes teen pregnancy prevention projects and youth suicide prevention activities, the School Health Program, the Healthy Child Care Oklahoma Project, the Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems Initiative, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and injury prevention activities. Currently, staff is also involved in several state level initiatives and legislatively mandated task forces focused on the issue of childhood obesity.
