Direct Hire Positions
For certain classified positions requiring professional practice licensure or those positions meeting approval criteria as hard-to-fill, outside applicants may apply directly to the Department of Health’s central office service, division or county health department having a posted vacancy without the need to be certified to the agency on a Merit System Certified List. Applicants must submit an original, signed Merit System Application Form (OPM-4) showing they meet all minimum qualifications for the position and level as stated in the job family descriptor and attach a copy of their current professional practice license if applicable for the position. All documents must be submitted in person or by mail (copies of these documents cannot be accepted by fax or e-mail).

Registered Nurse (All Levels)

Epidemiologist (Levels I, II, III)
Qualified applicants interested in an announced unclassified position may apply by sending a letter of interest and resume via e-mail or hard copy to the contact individual listed on the vacancy announcement by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date.
All non-health department applicants may be subject to a pre-employment background investigation following a conditional offer of employment.
