March 11, 2009 Updates to Go Gov!
You are literally a few clicks away from having audio and video clips on your Web site. We are delighted to announce the unveiling of our newest feature that can be added to your existing Go Gov! account. The Multimedia Manager will serve as a repository for all of your audio and video files so that you can add them to your Web pages. There is no cost for adding this module to your existing Web Management account. It works much like the Image Manager and the Document Manager, but with a few exceptions...
We think you'll find the Multimedia Manager is very user friendly. Click on the "Multimedia Manager" link located below the "Content Management" tab in the left navigational area of your Web Management account. Browse to locate the file you would like to upload, agree to the accessibility attestation, and Presto! You will have multimedia files located in your Multimedia Manager. You can even create folders to organize your files. Once media files are uploaded, adding your media files to a Web page is very simple. Copy the link location of your media file from your Multimedia Manager. Go to the "Design" tab of the desired Web page that you want to place the media files on. Next, go to the "Insert" tab, and click on "Insert Object." Under the "Source" tab, select the file type from the dropdown list, and paste the link location that you copied into the empty field. Next, go to the "Properties" tab, and select the specify height and width boxes. A standard size file is approximately 250 x 250 pixels. Click on "Ok" to add your file. Important Note: Each agency is responsible for making sure that your media files are accessible to everyone who is viewing or listening to them from your Web site. For this reason, it is imperative that you provide captioning and/or transcripts for your video/audio files. Administrative users will be able to turn on/off the permissions to users who can/cannot have access to this utility by editing a user group and selecting "Multimedia Manager" from the modules list. Admin users will need to follow this procedure for the "ADMIN Group" in order to see this feature as well.
