Tar Creek: Governor's Task Force
In an effort to assume a more vital leadership role in attacking the myriad of environmental, health and safety problems associated with the nation's highest-ranking Superfund site, Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating formed the Tar Creek Superfund Task Force on 26 January 2000. Charged with developing a comprehensive remediation plan for the ill-fated area of northeastern Ottawa County, the Task Force worked to develop recommendations and consisted of ten members. The final report to the Governor was submitted on 1 October 2000 and can be found here.
