GRANT TITLE: PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS (PSN)

OVERVIEW:
Directed by the 94 United States Attorneys throughout the country, Project Safe Neighborhoods is a comprehensive initiative to reduce gun crime in America by bringing together resources from the local, state, and federal levels. The District Attorneys Council, Federal Grants Division serves as the fiscal agent for the U.S. Attorneys in the Western, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Oklahoma.

ELIGIBILITY: To be eligible for funding, an applicant must be a(n): a) State Agency; b) Unit of Local Government (i.e., city, county, town); c) Tribal Government; or d) Private, Non-profit Community-based Organization.

DEADLINE TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION: The deadline for the 2007 Project Safe Neighborhoods application has passed. Depending on federal funding, it is anticipated that grant funds will be available in 2008.

TO REQUEST AN APPLICATION: The application period for the 2007 Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Program is closed. To be placed on the mailing list to receive a Notice of Availability of Funds, contact the Federal Grants Division at 405/264-5008.

Interesting Facts

  • PSN funding is being used to hire state prosecutors, support law enforcement, deter juvenile gun crime, and develop and promote community outreach efforts as well as to support other gun violence reduction initiatives.



  • Since 2003, the U.S. Attorneys in the Northern and Western Districts have received $1,279,629 to reduce gun crime.
