Janet Stewart, OCC general counsel, was recognized for 10 years of service at the November 2008 Conservation Commission meeting. November 2008 marks Stewart's 10th year of service to the state of Oklahoma and her first anniversary with the Oklahoma Conservation Commission. She serves on OCC's Conservation Programs Division staff.
Before joining OCC Steward worked for the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Assistant Commissioner of Agriculture Rick Maloney represented Commissioner of Agriculture Terry Peach and thanked Steward for nine years of service to ODAFF. She continues to serve on the ODAFF Incident Command System team as well as on OCC's ICS team. The Incident Command System (ICS) is a standardized, on-scene, all-hazard incident management concept.
OCC Executive Director Mike Thralls commended Janet for her work on flood control dam emergency action plans, the recent revision of the Conservation District Act, rule for the Carbon Sequestration Verification Program, and the conservation bond issue.
