Information Technology

The Information Technology division's responsibilities include the Oklahoma Conservation Commission's geographic information systems (GIS) operations and database management, and computer network administration for the agency, as well as computer network support to the agency and to conservation districts.

In 1994 the Oklahoma Legislature passed and the Governor signed a bill that authorized the Oklahoma Conservation Commission to prepare a "Strategy for Developing a GIS for the State of Oklahoma" and created the State GIS Council to assist the Conservation Commission in this project. The Conservation Commission serves as the chair of the State GIS Council.
