The Office of Management and Enterprise Services (OMES) is providing guidance for all State of Oklahoma agencies regarding the creation and use of emerging web tools to facilitate collaboration, information sharing, social networking and social media. Below are the social networking and social media standards for all State of Oklahoma agencies, in addition to a list of approved technologies. OMES and the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General have been working as a part of a collaborative effort involving the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) working on Terms of Service agreements with a broad range of social media providers who offer free services to users. The objective is to resolve issues with the existing standard Terms of Service (TOS) that are problematic to state and local agencies. Having these agreements means that, if a state of local government chooses to use various social networking or social media sites, it won’t have to start from scratch on negotiating a special TOS.
