Web-based Marketing

Marketable URLs

The state of Oklahoma allows state agencies, boards and commissions to request OK.gov specialty Web addresses so these organizations may create their own brands while continuing to promote the OK.gov brand. This also allows for a consistent look and feel among state government web sites, providing Oklahoma citizens with easier access to state government. For example:

  • The Oklahoma Homeland Security Division requested the specialty Web address homelandsecurity.ok.gov so they could easily brand themselves in a recognizable fashion to the citizens of Oklahoma.
  • The Governor of Oklahoma uses gov.ok.gov to promote his Web site.
  • The specialty Web address auction.ok.gov was created to help citizens of Oklahoma find the state surplus auction easily.

Generally, requests for Web addresses that reflect the government entity's name or acronym, such as pharmacy.ok.gov and conservation.ok.gov, are automatically approved while other Web addresses receive more scrutiny. A team review the Web address requests based on conformity of suggested standards.

Any state agency, board, commission or local government can request a OK.gov specialty Web address through marketing@www.ok.gov. Government representatives can simply send a request via this e-mail form that includes the following information:

  • the URL they would like to use,
  • the Web page that URL should go to when requested and
  • intended use of the branding

Requests for an OK.gov domain address are usually reviewed within a few business days.

Strategic Link Marketing

OK.gov provides online services buttons on the front page (homepage) of OK.gov. These buttons are rotated among all current state services available through the state's portal. Once a state agencies' application has gone live, these buttons will appear on the state's portal page for added visibility and to further promote Oklahoma's online services.

OK.gov will also research areas on the Internet where your online service could be linked. We will provide you with a report of possible locations and with your approval we will do the work for you! Examples include strategically linking your online service to OK.gov’s Online Services page and providing links to your online service(s) under your section of the Agency Directory.

Graphic Design

OK.gov provides complimentary graphics for all OK.gov created online services. At the agency's request, and we will be happy to enhance your online service with some banners and buttons. Front page design and sub template design is also available for Content Management System Web sites.
