AT is any item or piece of equipment used tomaintain or improve the capabilities of people withdisabilities. Assistive technology allows people withdisabilities to function independently in recreation, education, employment, and daily living activities. AT Reutilization DME Logo Ok DME Reuse Program Oklahoma ABLE Tech and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority, have partnered to provide the Oklahoma DurableMedical Equipment Reuse Program. The program isdesigned to reuse valuable DME that is no longer needed, and assign it to someone in need at no cost. The Oklahoma Equipment Exchangecan help you donate your equipment and provide a way tolocate assistive technology at a reasonable price. Low Interest Bank Loans The price of assistive technology may be out of reach fora person with a disability. Oklahoma ABLE Tech can helpmake it affordable with a low interest bank loan. Borrowers can use the loans to buy assistive technology theyneed. These adaptations have allowed him to become more active in his community. Telework Loans The telework loan program provides low interest bank loansto people with disabilities for home-based employment.Telework is full or part-time paid employment at home.These loans have been used to purchase specialized computer software, office furniture, and even agricultural equipment! Accessible Instructional Materials Some students with disabilities have difficulty readingtextbooks and other learning materials due to blindness or lowvision, a physical disability preventing the student fromholding the textbook or turning pages, or a specific learningdisability such as dyslexia. To succeed in school, thesestudents need specialized formats called “accessible instructional materials” or AIM. The federal special education law,the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA),includes a requirement that schools provide AIM toelementary and secondary students with disabilities who needthem. AIM includes: large print, braille, audio, and digitaltext. ABLE Tech assists individuals, schools, and families withobtaining AIM and provides assistive technology support andshort-term loans.
