Protection and Advocacy Activities in Oklahoma

Advocacy refers to the act of pleading or interceding for a cause. It incorporates the goal of independence for the person with disabilities and may be carried out by the person, a family member or a professional. Advocacy empowers individuals to gain knowledge of their legal rights.  It incorporates the goal of independence for the person with disabilities and may be carried out by the person, a family member or a professional.

Advocacy Resources

ODLC, Oklahoma Disability Law Center, provides free legal services to persons with disabilities needing assistance to access assistive technology.  If you have questions about eligibility, please contact one of the following offices for information:

Alternative Dispute Resolution System:  Low cost mediation services can be arranged through local Early Settlement Centers to all who wish to negotiate interpersonal matters.  Oklahoma City 405-521-6677

Legal Aid of Oklahoma:  Legal Aid is a statewide program that provides legal services in civil cases.  Income is an eligibility factor for services.  Oklahoma City, 800-421-1641 V/TDD
