Oklahoma's Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Law passed in 2004 (HB 2197) requiring state agencies, post secondary institutions, and the State Board of Career and Technology Education to develop, procure, and maintain electronic and information technology that is accessible to people with disabilities. The Office of State Finance and the Department of Central Services issued standards and rules to implement the provisions of the law. The Office of State Finance IT accessibility standards became effective Sept. 8, 2005.
On March 13-14 Oklahoma ABLE Tech, the Department of Central Services and the Office of State Finance will host a training event in the Will Rogers Building, Concourse Theatre, Oklahoma City State Capitol complex. The sessions will provide technical assistance to state agencies and higher education on each of the IT accessibility standards. An additional session will provide general knowledge of the requirements of Oklahoma¿s IT accessibility law and discussion of procurement procedures. The sessions will provide essential information for program managers, IT personnel, procurement officers, and others requiring a better understanding of the IT standards. Jon Brundage, TecAccess, is a recognized expert in the field of accessible electronic and information technology, and will present the standards sessions 1-6.
