The Assistive Technology Act of 1998 as amended is the Assistive Technology Act of 2004. It requires that any authorized activities carried out and supported by federal funds received under the Act must comply with Section 508. The Act also contained a rule stating that AT Programs that were operating under FY2004 funds would still require compliance with the AT Act of 1998, reiterating state compliance to section 508. But, the ATA Act of 2004 does not extensively require state compliance to Section 508. Within section 6 of the Act, the assurances state, (G) activities carried out in the State that are authorized under this Act, and supported by Federal funds received under this Act, will comply with the standards established by the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board under section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (20 U.S.C. 794d)
