Public Invited to Disability Agency’s Outreach and Education EXPO Oct 15 and 16

The state agency responsible for providing many critical services to Oklahomans with disabilities has scheduled a free community outreach and education event on Oct. 15 and 16. DRS Director Michael O’Brien, Ed.D. encourages current and former clients, partner agencies and the public to participate in the 2009 DRS EXPO on the Oklahoma School for the Deaf campus located at 1100 E. Oklahoma Street in Sulphur.

The EXPO theme is “16 Candles” in honor of DRS’ 16th anniversary. The EXPO marks the milestone of the 16th year of DRS as an independent agency and celebrates more than 80 years of providing services to individuals with disabilities.

The event will be hosted by O’Brien and the Commission for Rehabilitation Services Commissioners: Chair Ben C. White from Lawton, Vice Chair Ray Kirk from Muskogee and Member Steve Shelton from Edmond

Exhibit Hours: Oct. 15th 10:00 a.m. ­ 5:00 p.m. Oct. 16th 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Visiting Nurse's Association (VNA) will be available to give flu shots - cost is $20

ADA accessible public restrooms will be available in designated buildings. OSD Museum will be available to tour at designated times. 

Policy at OSD: No smoking or tobacco use on campus (must be outside fence to smoke). No weapons allowed on campus. Park only in designated school parking areas (not in church parking lot across street). Please carry personal identification at all times. 

Overnight Accommodations: Limited lodging is available on campus. There is a $10 fee for overnight lodging (includes bed and bath linens). Lodging is free to OSD & OSB Students. Lodging assignments will be made on a first come first served basis.
