ABLE Tech is now partnering with the Oklahoma State University Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) to provide augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations for individuals of any age who are unable to speak and be understood orally.
The evaluations will result in a recommendation for specific equipment, such as a portable electronic device, for example, that will speak messages aloud for the individual. It is important to note that the recommended device will not be provided at the conclusion of the evaluation. Per client request, ABLE Tech can loan the recommended device on a temporary basis to determine if it will meet the individual’s needs. Options for acquiring the device will be discussed as well.
Evaluations will be scheduled through the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic in South Murray Hall on the Stillwater, OK campus. If you do not have insurance and cannot afford the regular cost of services, the clinic will be happy to apply a very generous sliding scale that is based on income. Please call Donita Tefft at (405) 744-6021 for more information or view the CDIS homepage.
