JOB OPENING Executive Secretary - Director About Us The Teachers’ Retirement System of Oklahoma (TRS), located in Oklahoma City, is searching for an Executive Secretary to lead and manage this $9 billion public pension fund serving over 144,000 members. The System was established by legislation in 1943 and is controlled by a 13-member governing Board of Trustees. TRS is a defined benefit plan with 52 full-time employees providing retirement allowances, disability and survivor benefits, access to health care coverage for eligible participants, a 403(b) tax-sheltered annuity program, as well as other benefits to public education employees in the common schools, area career and technology centers, colleges and universities, and other local and state educational agencies of the State of Oklahoma. The major sources of revenue for TRS are member contributions, employer contributions from local schools, dedicated revenues from the state of Oklahoma, and investment income. TRS employs approximately 25 external investment managers to manage the assets of the System. Internally, staff manages approximately $100 - $300 million in cash positions of domestic managers. The current asset mix of the System is 53% domestic equities, 17% international equities and 30% fixed income. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the Executive Secretary include but are not limited to: ♦ Overall administration of the System, including the oversight of investment management, finance and accounting, benefits administration, member records and information technology, internal audit, information resources, and human resources. Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a post-graduate degree in accounting, finance, economics, business management, law or related fields. A minimum of ten (10) years of professional level experience in accounting, investments, finance, budgeting, auditing, law or a closely related field, of which at least five (5) years have been in an administrative capacity with a retirement system or other similar financial organizations. Preference will be given to candidates with substantial demonstrated experience in executive level presentation skills, experience with investment committees and board of directors. Must be eligible for $25,000 bond. Compensation Compensation is determined by Oklahoma statute. The salary range is negotiable between $101,337 - $116,536. Comprehensive health care and retirement benefits are also provided.
