OKLAHOMA CITY — Preston Doerflinger, director of the Office of State Finance, announced a series of staff changes on Tuesday as part of an effort to improve the efficiency of the agency.
Brandy Manek, state budget director, will move up to become director of budget and policy. Jill Geiger, deputy budget director, will replace Manek. Ron Jenkins, OSF media advisor, will become public information officer.
"It’s part of a reorganization that should streamline our agency and make it more effective," said Doerflinger, who is finance secretary in Governor Mary Fallin’s cabinet.
"We have eliminated the position of deputy director of operations. We are leading by example by doing more with less as we look to the future."
The staff changes are scheduled to take effect on March 1.
Manek, a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in accounting, has been with the agency for 9 years and has served under 6 OSF directors and 3 governors.
As director of budget and policy, Manek will retain a supervisory role over the OSF’s budget operations and will advise the director on a variety of policy and agency issues.
Geiger, in her new position, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the budget division, which includes building the state budget for the governor.
Geiger has been with the OSF for 6 years. She has a master’s degree in organizational and intercultural communications from the University of Hawaii and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and communications from William Jewell College.
Jenkins has been working under contract with the agency for a year, advising the OSF on media matters and the content of the OpenBooks and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act websites. He previously was the longtime Capitol Correspondent for the Associated Press in Oklahoma and was a 1996 inductee into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame.
