A MESSAGE FROM OSF DIRECTOR PRESTON DOERFLINGER

OKLAHOMA CITY — Now that the legislative session has ended, I wanted to touch base with members of the news media about Office of State Finance policies.

As someone still relatively new to state government, it’s been a privilege to be part of the move to more openness in government.

This year has brought expansion of the OpenBooks website and implementation of the new data.OK.gov website. That means many answers to your questions about state finances are now readily available.

As a strong believer in the state’s Open Records Act, I want you to know that our office stands ready to assist you with any other questions you may have.

As you know, the OSF is responsible for producing the Governor’s Executive Budget and the Comprehensive Annual Financial report, as well as generating official General Revenue Fund reports each month.

Our agency has many other duties, including partnering in the implementation of the State of Oklahoma’s Integrated Central Financial System (CORE) and managing OK.gov, the state’s Internet portal.

Finally, recently passed consolidation legislation adds up to busy days ahead for our office at the Capitol and for our ISD operations elsewhere.

I am looking forward to the challenges ahead as I work with Alex Pettit, Oklahoma’s Chief Information Officer, and other officials.

My desire, also, is to have a positive relationship with the news media as we move along. Please direct all of your inquiries about OSF operations to Ron Jenkins, our Public Information Officer.

Ron is an experienced former journalist who is sensitive to your needs and has direct contact with me on a daily basis.  He can be reached (405) 521-3267 or at Ron.Jenkins@osf.ok.gov.

Sincerely,

Preston Doerflinger, OSF Director
