The Office of State Finance Information Services Division is seeking a Sr. Server Support Specialist.  This is a full time position in STATE GOVERNMENT and will be eligible for a generous total rewards package. POSITION PURPOSE


The purpose of this position is to perform advanced work in the configuration and maintenance of various File & Print, E-mail, and Application servers. This includes analysis, maintenance, and operation of the server Operating Systems and OSF supported server applications. This position requires an individual knowledgeable in server principles; server hardware, server Operating Systems, and server application security; project management methodology; client server environment; and networking principles. Individual will ensure all scheduled support activities and project deadlines are met while maintaining a high level of user trust, satisfaction and confidence. Individual must be able to work independently and assume full responsibilities for server support during the absence of the team leader.


 PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES


Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, SAN storage, server Operating Systems, and server-based application software 

Install, configure, and maintain backup and recovery components in a networked server environment.  Prepare and maintain Disaster Recovery documentation for supported systems 

Install, configure, manage, and update server security components 

Troubleshoot, isolate, and replace server components. Maintain system reliability at 99% uptime 
Conduct research for server hardware and software upgrades, enhancements, and migrations 
Provide user support for multiple State agency servers and applications – create and remove accounts, set user access rights, reset passwords, and assist users as needed 
Implement approved change requests from users to meet all user requirements and schedules 
Monitor system usage and identify areas for expansion or reconfiguration 
Configure, integrate, and maintain current level virus protection and server data protection tools


PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Completion of 24 semester hours of computer science or management information systems course work plus four (4) years of Windows Server administration experience. Each 12 hours of required course work can be substituted with two (2) additional years of relevant experience in information systems server systems and server related application support or completion of a vocational or technical training course resulting in certification in computer programming 

Preference may be given to applicants who possess the following:

Six (6) years of professional-level multi-server or multi-LPAR networked systems and software support in current technological computing environments 
Six (6) years experience in administering Windows, Netware, Linux, or VMware Operating Systems.  A portion of this documented experience must have been in the last two (2) years 
Two (2) years experience providing support for and administering a large Microsoft Active Directory environment
Two (2) years experience supporting and administering Microsoft Exchange Server
One (1) year experience installing, supporting, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later environments
