OK-WARN for the Deaf and Hard-of-HearingOK-WARN stands for Oklahoma Weather Alert Remote Notification - a new service that provides notification of weather hazards and emergencies to deaf and hard-of-hearing Oklahomans via pager, e-mail or cell phone. The program was developed as a partnership between Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management (OEM), National Weather Service - Norman Forecast Office, NOAA National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSI), Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD) of Oklahoma, and Weather Affirmation, LLC. OK-WARN is made possible by a federal grant from the Federal Emergency Agency, now a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Those interested in participating should download and complete the Application Sign-Up form. Applicants will be verified for eligibility in the program. |
