General Information
The Department of Central Services (also referred to as DCS) is created by Section 61.2 of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes and the successor to the Office of Public Affairs and the State Board of Public Affairs. The agency number is 580.

The primary statutory powers and duties of DCS are set forth in Section 1 et seq of Title 61 and Section 61 et seq. of Title 74 of the Oklahoma Statutes.

The principal office of the Department of Central Services is located in the Will Rogers Office Building, 2401 N. Lincoln Blvd., Suite 206, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, except Saturday and Sunday, and any legal holiday established by statute or proclamation of the Governor.

The Department currently consists of 7 functional units and several administrative units with about 230 employees. Divisions perform duties mandated by statute. The maximum number of employees is set by the Legislature.

Authorized by the Legislature, the Department of Central Services is designated in the Executive Department under the administrative control of the Director of Central Services. The Director is appointed by the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Director serves at the pleasure of the Governor and continues to serve until a successor is duly appointed and qualified. The Director of Central Services is also the Deputy Cabinet Secretary of Human Resources and Administration, who supports five, and oversees59 boards and commissions.

The Director has authority, with the approval of the Governor, to hire experts and assistants for performance of duties as required by law. The Director is also required to hire an attorney and one assistant attorney to serve as legal counsel for the Department.
