This free, independent online education resource center has extensive subject guides and distance learning information for prospective and current students as well as other researchers. Founded in 1998 by librarian coordinator Mike Madin, AcademicInfo is maintained by multiple contributors.

American Choral Directors Association

Founded in 1959, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is a nonprofit music-education organization whose central purpose is to promote excellence in choral music through performance, composition, publication, research, and teaching.

Arts Journal
A daily digest of arts culture and ideas. This site features news articles compiled daily from all corners of the world on art history, performing arts, media, literature, and other art forms.

4Culture Artist Registry
The registry connects client to artist. 4Culture promotes Registry usage to design professionals, public and private developers. Artists selected for the Registry receive worldwide portfolio exposure and are pre-qualified for public commissions.

America Creates for the Millennium
See 56 different artist residency projects in progress, see 60 of the nation's best-known artists at work. Contact artists and host sites with your questions and input. Learn how to conduct your own artists residency project. Link to many different arts organizations and funding sources.

Americans for the Arts
This national organization supports the arts and culture through private and public resource development, leadership development, public policy development, information services, public awareness and education. In particular, see the following:

  • Arts & Economic Prosperity: The Economic Impact of Nonprofit Arts Organizations and Their Audiences, a downloadable report
  • Arts & Economic Prosperity Calculator, a free resource that will estimate the economic impact of the arts in a designated area.
  • National Arts Policy Database that cover topics related to arts policy, funding, and others available in abstracts, news articles, program profiles, and sample documents.
  • Americans for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund for local arts agencies that have experienced disasters to help them rebuild the arts in their community.

Art Deadlines List
This monthly newsletter provides information about juried exhibitions, art competitions, jobs, internships, scholarships, call for entries, proposals, papers, writing and photo contests, residencies, design and architecture competitions, auditions, fellowships, casting calls, tryouts, grants festivals, funding, financial aid, and other opportunities (including some that take place on the web) For Artists, Art Educators, and Art Students of all ages.

Art Job
This resource lists employment and opportunities in the arts throughout the United States. The searchable Web site includes full and part-time positions, internships, grants, fellowships, and calls for entries. Job seekers also have access to an employer database that includes background and contact information about employers in the arts.

Chronicle of Philanthropy
The Chronicle contains the latest philanthropic news about recent grants awarded by foundations, corporations, and other funding agencies for the arts and arts-related fields; deadlines for requests for proposals, and much more. Subscribers to the print version can receive daily and weekly funding news updates in their in-box. Their on-line Guide to Grants may be searched by keyword, grant maker name, or recipient.

The Cultural Commons
The Cultural Commons was created by the Center for Arts and Culture, a Washington based think tank that seeks to inform and improve the decision that affect our cultural life.

Foundation Center
The Foundation Center offers several products and services for grants researchers including Arts Funding Watch, a free newsletter that brings to your in-box the first Wednesday of the month the latest information about the arts and philanthropy, including requests for proposals for arts organizations and individuals.

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Classical America (ICA&CA)
The leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the practice and appreciation of the classical tradition in architecture and the allied arts.

Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA)
This organization was created to support and stimulate cultural activity in communities throughout Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. M-AAA now creates and manages regional, multi-regional, national, and international programs including traveling exhibitions, performing arts touring, and professional and community development.

Music for All Foundation
This national, non-profit organization, which does not accept unsolicited proposals, focuses its work on projects that expand access to public school music and arts programs. They also provide scientific research that explores the benefits of music education, advocacy and public awareness efforts to support music and arts education, and activities that encourage positive media coverage of the role music and arts education plays in society. The site offers several useful features. Quickfacts, a compilation of music and arts education facts, offers data and statistics to use in a needs statement in grant proposals, funding articles, and policy papers. Other features include an extensive list of links to a range of arts organizations and research reports on various topics.

National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA)
The membership organization of the nation's state and jurisdictional arts agencies. High points of this site are a list of links of major grant makers to arts and culture, a directory of state arts agencies, state arts agencies' web sites, news updates from various state arts agencies, requests for proposals, research data, and links to demographic information. Proposal writers will appreciate the lengthy list of assorted research reports some free and others for a fee on topics about arts and learning, workforce preparation and the arts, educational approaches, and teaching the arts.

National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)
Many of the programs and services of the Oklahoma Arts Council as well as those of local arts groups in Oklahoma are made possible by grants from the NEA.Sections of interest to proposal writers, prospect researchers, evaluators, reviewers, and others include the following--

  • Publications - This features research reports on various topics such as participation in the arts, employment and earnings in the arts, the effects of arts education on participation in the arts, audience participation in diverse art forms, a breakdown by geographical participation in arts and culture, among others.
  • Research Division Notes - Download short summaries of current statistical information about the artist labor force, public participation in the arts, employment trends, economics and the performing arts, and much more.
  • Grants - Find applications and forms to apply for a NEA grant, to manage an award, or to view a list of recent grant awards.
  • Resources - Information for individual artists, arts organizations, and art audiences are available on funding sources from the government, state arts agencies, and foundations, and much more.

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)
A national information resource for artists in all disciplines and for everyone who supports them in any way. While they state their mission "starts with individual artists in the visual, media, performing and literary arts," their site also offers information about programs they offer for small and medium-sized organization in New York that serve the needs of artists.

  • See NYFA Current for a list of deadlines for upcoming grant and fellowship opportunities in the arts.

Open Studio
This is a laboratory for the exploration of the tools and techniques that will serve arts and cultural organizations as they prepare for the networked environment of the next century. Open Studio promotes access to the Internet and to arts and cultural information.

The After-School Corporation (TASC)
Although the organization services the New York City area, funding information is available about sources with general, national, and local appeal. See TASC's searchable database for information about public and private funding opportunities for youth service programs, including those in the arts. This site's database is searchable by key words, geographical area, age levels, type of funder, purpose of funding, and eligibility. Updates about current funding announcements may be obtained by signing up with their e-mail service.
